Jo Hollier Exhibition: Creek Walks

Pivot Gallery, Belconnen Arts Centre | Exhibition: 29 August – 12 October 2025

Opening: 6pm Friday 29 August 2025

Creek Walks consists of creative explorations and processes of times spent along the edge of a creek which rises in S.E. Forests National Park (NSW). Inspiration is drawn from the surroundings, capturing the essence of the natural beauty and tranquility found in secluded areas. The prints created in collagraph, etching and monprint reflect the interplay between light and shadow, the intricate patterns formed by leaves and branches, and the subtle variations in hues that define the creek’s environment.

Through my art, I aim to evoke a sense of connection and appreciation for the unique ecosystems that thrive along the creek’s banks. I have used the collagraph process for many of my works to demonstrate its versatility and its technical and expressive possibilities. Using this method enables me to explore the painterly aspects of printmaking and to give form and volume to the works. Interesting random results that can be achieved by direct colour mixing and creating layers with transparent inks.

The inclusion of monoprints offers me a unique sense of freedom and spontaneity. The tactile experience of pressing leaves into the paper, feeling their contours and textures, connects me deeply to the natural world and its ephemeral beauty.

My artistic exploration is a testament to the adaptability and boundless possibilities of printmaking. It is a celebration of nature’s subtle wonders and a reflection of the ever- changing landscape along the creek’s edge.
