Creek Walks: A New Exhibition

Creek Walks | Jo Hollier

Creek Walks is a body of work developed from time spent along the edge of a creek that rises in the S.E. Forests National Park, NSW. These quiet walks offered space for reflection, observation, and connection with the textures, colours, and quiet rhythms of the natural world.

Working across collagraph, etching, and monoprint, I’ve explored the interplay between light and shadow, the subtle layering of leaves and branches, and the tonal shifts that define the creek’s environment.

The collagraph process features heavily in this collection, it’s a method I return to for its expressive, painterly qualities and its capacity for layering transparent inks to create depth and variation. I’ve also included monoprints, which offer spontaneity and freedom in mark-making. The tactile act of pressing leaves into paper, feeling their contours and textures, deepens my connection to the impermanence and quiet detail of the natural world.

“This work is a celebration of nature’s subtle wonders and a reflection of the ever-changing landscape along the creek’s edge.”
